Abstract

This study aims to design and build a fishing boat position monitoring tool to improve the safety and supervision of fishermen's activities in the waters. This monitoring system is designed using a Global Positioning System module to obtain real-time ship position coordinate data, which is then sent to the monitoring center via the NRF24I01 wireless communication network. The position data obtained will be displayed in a digital map-based monitoring application, making it easier for officers to carry out supervision and quick handling in the event of an emergency, such as an accident or violation of water boundaries. This system is also equipped with a Save Our Soul (SOS) feature that allows fishermen to send emergency signals directly to port officers. Testing of the tool shows that the system is able to monitor ship movements with high accuracy, as well as speed up the process of identifying ship locations when an incident occurs. The implementation of this monitoring tool is expected to improve the safety of traditional fishermen who have not been reached by modern monitoring systems, as well as provide authentic evidence for supervisors in the sustainable management of fishery resources.
